Dreaming the Universe

Pasadena Museum of History Exhibit Materials

Our recent design work for the Pasadena Museum of History included art for exhibit “Dreaming the Universe: The Intersection of Science, Fiction, & Southern California,” which explored the history of science fiction in Southern California from the 1930s to the 1980s. It showcased how science, fiction, and Southern California converged together, merging academia, aerospace, pop-culture production, science fiction fans and shifts in American society.

Pleased with McGregor Shott's designs, the director of collections wrote: "You beautifully conveyed the excitement and joy of the genre and your artwork is sure to attract many, many visitors to the exhibition. In fact, we opened with record-breaking attendance of almost 500 people on the first day."

Materials for the show included posters, banners, advertising, and signage.
